HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY GRADES?
Are you worried about your grades? Worried about the result of your exam? If you get a high score or you fail? School grades are the main source of anxiety among youths, Receiving the praise of your parents or incurring their wrath. Your grades also serve to give your parents some idea of how you are doing in school. If you manage to get passing grades through guessing, cramming, or even cheating you will never learn how to think. What good is a high grade in math if later on you will find yourself unable to balance a checkbook? How can you get grades that reflect your abilities?
TAKE RESPONSIBILTY FOR LEARNING
Laziness is often the real reason for low grades. A good student takes responsibility for their learning. Personal motivation helps you keep on going. Putting yourself in schedule and organizing your time. Set goals for yourself. It is on how hard you are willing to study and apply you in school.
STUDY ENVIRONMENT
If you will have a quiet place set aside for studying, you’ll probably get a benefit on it. Use a desk with plenty of space where you can spread out your work. Make sure that you have a good lightning, it reduces fatigue and protects your eyes as well. A cool room provides a more invigorating study environment than a warm room. It is like a job you have to work every day- whether you are in the mood or not. So view your homework as an exercise ins elf-discipline, a rehearsal for later work experience. Try to avoid things that will give you destruction in studying.
MAKE A STUDY ROUTINE
If your homework involves a lot of reading try to follow this method:
First SURVEY your material. Get an overall view of it by looking at subheadings, charts, etc. Next make up QUESTIONS based on chapter titles or topic sentences. Now READ, look for the answers to these questions when you’re done RECITE what you have read without looking on it. Then review by looking over it again and test your memory to each section. Review your notes, textbooks and homework.
FAILURE
If you fail a test after trying hard to pass it can devastate your self-respect. The humiliation of failing a test will be worth it if you learn from your mistakes and improve. Take it as a challenge. What about facing disappointment parents with a bad report card? Face it! Your parents have the right to know how you are doing in school. Be honest with your parents and listen to their discipline. If you think they are expecting too much from you, talk over with them.
Grades are not the final judgment on your worth as a person. Take advantage of the time you are in school, and learn as much as you can. I know you are sick and tired of studying but there will be a time that you want to go back and study again. Strive harder to get good grades and you’ll never regret it.
